The number of reported bites is the highest during the mating season when the funnel web spider males enter in houses and garages through small gaps in the doors and window sills. Mating is dangerous for the funnel web spider as the females are very aggressive, this is why the male funnel web spiders have to hold them with the spurs on the second legs. As for the potential danger to humans, that does exist. Normally, a camel spider will not attack a human being, but if one gets accidentally bitten, the condition can become very painful indeed. However, the bite is not as serious as that of a tarantula for instance, since the camel spider has no venom to inject. Anyone who can recognize spider species, will be able to avoid getting exposed to their bites. The easiest way to tell spiders apart is by comparing them with pictures from albums and learning the features specific to each species or variety. Many people learn to identify spider specimens that live closest to their homes, in sheds and garages. Poisonous Spiders Many people have a phobia when it comes to spiders; hairy legs, devious traps, innocent victims : this is the picture that they usually imagine.
